Janna Leith
Miss_JannaJanna Leith first taught at the Hatton School of Performing Arts in 2003, left in 2006 to take a singing job in Dublin, and returned in January 2010.

Janna Leith began her vocal training at the age of 15 when she gained a place in the National Youth Choir of Great Britain. During her 7 years as a member Janna took part in many projects including Classic Fm’s 10th Anniversary Concert in the Royal Albert Hall, 2 recordings for Delphian Records, and a 7 week world tour.

Janna studied music at the University of Leeds. During her degree she sang with the Leeds University Baroque Choir, Leeds University Liturgical Choir, and was regularly hired as a soloist at Skipton Church where performances include the soprano solo in Allegri’s Miserere, and soprano soloist in a live Christmas broadcast on BBC1. She performed in the University opera each year of her degree playing lead roles in her 2nd and 3rd year.

In 2006 Janna moved to Dublin to sing with the National Chamber Choir of Ireland who are the country’s leading professional choir. With NCC Janna has performed with Ireland’s top professional orchestras, conductors from across Europe, worked with Opera Ireland, sang for Ireland’s president and Taos each, and made recordings for CD, radio and television including a collaboration with Declan O'Rourke. NCC’s most recent CD features Janna as the soloist. The choir tours regularly and is well known for performing newly commissioned works. Janna also taught on the various education programmes run by NCC throughout Dublin including working on compositions with music students and teaching an adult singing group. Janna also taught singing in secondary schools in the Dublin area, at the Moore School of Performing Arts and the Adele King Theatre School. Her independent singing work includes recordings for adverts, singing at Michael Flatley’s wedding and backing singing for Andrea Boccelli.

Back in Scarborough Janna sings in the Hatton School of Performing Arts shows, Alive and Kicking charity concerts, and will be playing Mabel in Scarborough Musical Theatre Company's production of the Pirates of Penzance. Currently, Janna teaches at the Hatton School of Performing Arts and Bramcote School, teaching singing and music theory to individuals and groups ranging from toddlers to adults.
